MRM 2025 FAQs

What do we need to bring?

Participants are expected to bring with them:

  • For floor work, six full hanks (~30 ft) and two half hanks (~15 ft) of rope.
  • Safety scissors
  • A water bottle and any snacks or beverages you need during the day.
  • Note taking materials, if desired

Individual courses may have other requirements, so please make sure to double check your classes.

What should we wear?

Feel free to wear as much — or as little — as you want. Above all else, dress comfortably! For clothing, we recommend cool, breathable fabrics and/or anything that feels good to wear for extended periods of standing, sitting, kneeling, etc. (e.g., something you might wear to a yoga class). The event is located in a neighborhood so please plan for street clothes coming in and out.

Attendees are encouraged to dress in a manner consistent with their gender identity.

Can we take photographs? Will people take photographs of us?

Yes you can take photographs, but ONLY with the consent of everyone in the photo/drawing (including the background).  People will only take pics of you if want them to. Additionally, there will be two event photographers walking around the event taking pictures throughout the event.

Please see our Code of Conduct for more about consent.

Do I need a partner or can I come alone?

We will be giving priority to tying pairs during the first wave of registration, as our core curriculum is being designed with tying pairs in mind. This also benefits you from a negotiation and consent standpoint as you can establish much of this with your partner leading up to the event, allowing you to focus more of your time and energy on learning, collaborating, and networking.

For individual sign-ups, we are happy to place you on a waitlist and will reach out closer to the event if space is available. However, this is a great opportunity to connect with your local rope community and see if others you know are looking for a tying partner!

Who is this event for?

This event is open to all sexual orientations and gender identities, including transgender, gender nonbinary, and gender nonconforming participants. It is also open to all skill levels, from beginner to advanced, as there will be something for everyone regardless of where you are in your rope journey. Participants must be at least 21 years of age or older at time of registration.

Please note that Men Roping Men’s core focus is on tying the male form. Therefore, all of our instructional content and skill shares will be designed with this direct emphasis in mind. If you are not male-identifying, that’s okay! We encourage you to bring a male-identifying or male-bodied partner to tie so you can get the most value from MRM’s educational offerings. Please see ou Mission Statement.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes, the venue is wheelchair accessible. If you need other accommodations, please email us.

What about consent?

All activities and interactions among participants, both physical and verbal, should be precluded by explicit and enthusiastic consent to ensure the safety of all parties involved. In the context of verbal roleplay, do not address another attendee (or expect to be addressed by another attendee) as Sir, boy, Master, slave, gimp, etc. unless mutually agreed by both parties.

More in our Code of Conduct page.

Where should we stay?

We are working with a local hotel for discounted rooms. Once details are finalized we’ll post them under our travel page.

What happens if we can’t make the event? Can we get a refund?

Our refund policy is as follows:

  • June 1 through August 15, 2025: 100% refund less 15% handling fee IF we can get someone from the waitlist to take your place.
  • August 15 through September 15, 2025: No refund, but we’ll switch out your name for someone else if you have a replacement.  They will automatically be assigned your classes.
  • September 15, 2025: No refund, registration is closed, and no changes are permitted.

Who is organizing this event?

Men Roping Men is a group of rope tying enthusiasts who want more instruction on tying the male form. We also want to try and bring groups together into a larger roping community.  Please see our Mission Statement.

Is there parking at the venue?

The conference venue is in a neighborhood and has limited parking. Participants are encouraged to walk, ride share, or taxi to the venue.
