Tying Transmasculine Bodies

Rope is for every body. But sometimes finding gender affirming adaptations for transmasculine and or androgynous folks can be challenging. This floor based class is meant to create a container to explore adaptations that give those positive gender feels and experiment with what feels good for your body! We will discuss suggestions to explore gender affirmation in rope, how to make harness design decisions with this goal in mind, and play with two ties that experiment with different ways to approach this goal. We will also briefly discuss how testosterone can impact the body as it pertains to rope.

Recommended Experience

People tying should be familiar with single column ties, half hitches, munters, and a two band chest harness/shinju (box ties are also acceptable but safety considerations will not be covered, please do not tie your first box tie in this class) People in rope should be comfortable advocating for themselves, reflecting on what makes them feel affirmed in their gender, and have some body awareness in floor based ties.

Required Materials

Clothing/accessories that make you feel affirmed in your gender (socks, shoes, jocks, hats, packers, binding tape, etc) that don’t interfere with rope (typically things with zippers, buckles, wires, boning, etc). Note taking materials (phone is fine). Blanket to cover ground if desired
